Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) is the first national university in Georgia and the first higher education institution in the South Caucasus region. It established formal education in the country, created the local intellectual workforce, and paved the way for human development and democracy. Today, TSU is a leading research university in Georgia with more than 200 research projects initiated annually and with 2,156 publications (Scopus Data – 2015-2018).

 

The international outlook is a high priority for TSU. With its more than 200 institutional partners in 56 countries, the university puts special emphasis on joint projects and on the international mobility of its students, faculty, and staff. Between 1995-2022 TSU has been part of up to 60 EU-funded capacity-building projects, 3 ERASMUS Joint Master Programs, 2 Jean Monnet Programs, and 7 Erasmus Mundus consortia. 

 

At the same time, TSU is an outstanding performer in terms of attracting Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility projects (ICM) with 420 projects in collaboration with more than 150 partner universities in 26 countries EACEA program countries (2015-2022).
