Trier University Delegation Visits TSU

 

Erekle Astakhishvili, the Deputy Rector of Tbilisi State University, together with representatives of the administration, held a working meeting with the delegation of Trier University (Germany) within the framework of higher education cooperation between Georgia and Germany.

During the visit, representatives of the TSU administration, faculty deans, and professors discussed with their German counterparts the expansion of collaboration between the universities and the implementation of joint projects.

Erekle Astakhishvili, the Deputy Rector of TSU, said that the visit will culminate in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between TSU and Trier University, with the objective of facilitating the exchange of both academic personnel and students. “This visit is driven by a scientific and educational mission. Within the framework of the Erasmus program, we have very good relations with the Trier University, but the new cooperation will serve to further strengthen the scientific collaboration between the two universities’ academic communities,” Erekle Astakhishvili noted.

As part of the visit, the Vice President and academic staff of Trier University engaged in individual meetings with representatives of the relevant departments of TSU.

Prof. Dr. Torsten Mattern, the Vice President of Trier University, hailed his visit to TSU, stating that the objective of the visit is to enhance collaboration between the two universities and to broaden the scope of cooperation in the fields of law, humanities, archeology, and history.

TSU Professor Alexander Kartozia stated that TSU has been cooperating with Trier University for several years now, and today this cooperation is expanding even further.

“TSU has partnerships with a number of German universities. Georgian-German university relations are getting stronger and stronger. Today’s event is a proof of this,” he noted.

The meeting ended with a joint concert with the participation of the TSU Choir and the Trier University Orchestra.
