Program Name: Public Administration

Program description: The program was developed in close cooperation between German and Georgian scholars with the support of the Volkswagen Foundation. The aim of the program is to train and prepare students for leadership positions in the public sector by providing knowledge, skills and competencies that can also be effectively used in the private sector in relation to public authorities. An essential objective of the program is to convey the core values of a citizen and the rule of law-based public administration in an open society. Against this background, the program enables the participants to identify the different dimensions of tasks and problems. The graduates will be able to apply various disciplinary approaches and scientific methodologies when resolving problems and conceiving new solutions.

Program Name: European Studies (IES)
Degree: Master of Arts
Duration of the program: 2 years

Program description: The Institute for European Studies administers two years of English taught, interdisciplinary MA program in European studies (MAES). It also offers lifelong learning opportunities in European Studies. The aim of the two-year program is to provide students with in-depth interdisciplinary knowledge of EU issues (law, politics, economy, history and culture), incorporating also Eastern European issues (present and expected links with EU). These students will become experts who have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the structure and operations of the economic, legal and political institutions of the European Union, and are familiar with a decision–making at a European level, as well as the European integration process.

2. FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS (ISET)

 

Program Name: Economics 
Degree: Master of Arts  
Duration of the program: 2 years 
Language: English 

Program description: International School of Economics (ISET) offers a two-year Master's program in Economics. In the first year, all students take the same four economics courses (Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Statistics/Econometrics, and Mathematics for Economists), plus supplementary English/Academic Writing courses taught at three different levels for the entire duration of the first year. In the second year, students are given the opportunity to draw up an individual plan of elective courses. The curriculum is supplemented by internships, faculty-led research projects, and frequent opportunities to interact with policymakers and practitioners. Graduates receive a Master of Arts in Economics diploma from ISET, which is recognized by the World Bank as one of five "centres of excellence" in economics education and research in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union.

Program description: The main objective of the Master Program is to provide student-centred and competency-based teaching with internationally recognized educational standards in the field of Public Health. It covers the core principle of public health and encourages growing qualified professionals in a global market, provide theoretical and practical knowledge to the students. The program focuses on understanding public health issues, developing skills of solutions strategies, provide leadership skills within the public health sector at national or international levels. At the end of the program, students will have a profound and comprehensive knowledge of the field and apply epidemiological and statistical concepts, ethical principles and respective research methods.

Program Name: Media Psychology and Communication

Program description: The main objective of the program is to equip graduates with systematic knowledge and skill-based international competencies (I-COMs) in accordance with job market requirements and provide them with systematic knowledge in media psychology and comprehensive research skills so that they could: Conduct multidisciplinary research projects in media psychology and communications: research the interaction between media (social media included) and individuals/groups/society, as well as the influence of modern technologies on human behaviour and investigate psychological media effects; Contribute in raising awareness up in media influences, information and digital literacy (MIDL); With research-backed recommendations, have a positive impact on the development of media standards, media environment and media psychology field; To contribute with freshly gained knowledge in academia and exchange this knowledge with the academic and non-academic audience as well.

Program Name: Post-Soviet Transformation: Politics, Economy, Society
Degree: Master of Social Sciences (MSc)
Duration of the program: 2 years

Program description: The main objective of the program is to prepare specialists of social sciences with the interdisciplinary knowledge of political, economic and social transformation of Georgia in a post-Soviet period; students of the programs will be able to apply theoretical knowledge in order to comprehend country’s complex political, economic and social developments and changes; will be prepared to apply their knowledge to foster further development of the country. After completion of the program, the student will have deep and systemic knowledge of main political, economic and social trends and institutional patterns of post-Soviet transformation of Georgia - theoretical knowledge in the following fields: Political institutions, Democratization and state building;  civil society, social processes, values and culture;  Research methods and research design.

Program Name: Eurasian and Caucasian Studies
Degree: Master of Social Sciences (MSc)

Program description: The main objective of the program is to provide students with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical understanding of the settings in which fast-evolving processes in our region take place. The main focus is on the social, political and economic transformation of the South Caucasus and post-Soviet Eurasian region. To achieve this goal the program takes an integrated approach to the studies by looking at the transformation process through the lenses of different disciplines such as political science, international relations, economics, sociology, law and history. The program curriculum also involves skills-oriented practical courses and research methods.

5. FACULTY OF EXACT AND NATURAL SCIENCES

 

Program Name: Applied Biosciences
Degree: MSc in Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology
Duration of the program: 2 years
Language: English 

Program description: The program offers specialization courses designed to prepare high-qualified professionals in applied biosciences and biotechnology as well as narrow-profile specialists in the spheres of their interest. A large number of subjects are newly designed, aimed to be economical and flexible. The curriculum covers different aspects of applied biosciences and biotechnology, such as key concepts and advances in applied biosciences; legislative, commercial and ethical principles, and biosecurity issues. After completion of the program, the graduates will gain in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the subjects taught, as well as general and specific skills, required for further successful scientific or another career. The program also offers students the course in Field Specific English that will help students to improve their knowledge with an emphasis on learning scientific terms and phrases that is of extreme importance today, when English obviously dominates in modern scientific society.
