The aims of the institute are the following:

To create and develop the teaching courses about the processes and psychological mechanisms of the development, learning and socialization of an individual;

To study the psychological mechanisms and effective designs of teaching and learning, as well as to research the personal, social, emotional, institutional and environmental factors influencing on the teaching and learning processes;

To support the implementation of the educational psychology’s modern achievements in the educational policy and practice.

The goals of the institute are achieved by:

  1. Studying the constructs and processes of learning and teaching, as well as developing and adapting of measurement tools;
  2. Consulting, as well as evaluating and monitoring the planning and implementation of educational programs, modules and projects;
  3. Studying, discussing and interpreting the most recent scientific literature and international experience available in the field and adjusting to the present challenges inside the country;
  4. Cooperating, consulting and providing recommendations to any entity interested in the field of educational psychology.

The institute offers Masters and Doctoral programs:

Doctoral program – Educational Psychology

Institute research interests encompass following topics:

Paradigms of learning and teaching, whole child approach, inclusive education, principles of formal and non-formal learning;

Adult learning and teaching, psychological and educational concepts of lifelong education;

Learning goals, academic self-concept, academic achievement and its stages, self-regulation, self-directed learning;

Learning and teaching design, teaching styles and individual differences;

Structure of knowledge and learning process, deep-learning, cultural, ethnic and gender aspects of learning and teaching, parents/community engagement;

Academic well-being, emotion and learning, motivation and learning, self-efficacy, socialization as a process of learning;

Cognitive processes involved in learning and teaching, critical thinking and its components; intelligence and experience, metacognition, component skills;

Educational studies and concepts of measurement;

Assessment and evaluation designs and its main constructs; authentic assessment, evaluation of changes, alternative assessment.
