Michael Riepl's Public Lecture
On May 22, the Institute of International Law at TSU Law School hosted Dr. Michael Riepl from the University of Cologne. Dr. Riepl gave a public lecture on “How Modern Warfare Challenges International Humanitarian Law (IHL) - Examples from Current Armed Conflicts”. During the lecture, students had an excellent opportunity to discuss contemporary issues of international humanitarian law in an interactive format.
A meeting was also held with the Director of the Institute of International Law, Professor Irine Kurdadze, and Associate Professor Mariam Kevlishvili, where the prospects for cooperation were discussed.
Dr. Riepl graduated from the Geneva Academy's Master's program in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Cologne. Michael is currently a postdoctoral researcher (Habilitand) with Prof. Angelika Nussberger at the European Academy of Human Rights.
