FACULTY OF MEDICINE
Medical education in Georgia was established at TSU in 1918 with the establishment of the first Faculty of Medicine in Georgia. In 1919 the Faculty of Medicine was founded as an independent faculty, and at the end of the academic year of 1929-1930 it ceased the operation at the University. Admission of students to the medical program has resumed since 1994 year. Educational programme Medicine was accredited in 2011 and the first admission of international students was announced. Davit Rekhviashvili
Davit Rekhviashvili graduated from TSU Faculty of Medicine. Since 2012 he has been the director of the new children's clinic; Since 2003 he has been the head of the Pediatric Emergency Medical Center for Children. In 2011-2012, David was a pediatrician in the Pediatric Orthopedic Department of the Traumatology Hospital.
Edward Limonjiani
"I am Edward Limonjiani, a graduate of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Medicine (in 2019). I am currently a resident of Cardiac Surgery at Tbilisi State Medical University and also actively involved in preparing students for the American Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE). My research interest is cardiac surgery using simulators."
Soso Jakhia
"In 2003, I started studing at TSU, Faculty of Medicine, in Medicine Program, graduating in 2009. From 2010 to 2013 I was studying for a Master's degree at TSU Faculty of Medicine and was awarded the academic degree of Master of Public Health. Since 2009 I have held senior positions in public and various private medical institutions. I have been working as the clinical director of Batumi Medical Center since February 1, 2020."
Vladimer Gurushidze
Vladimer Gurushidze graduated from TSU Faculty of Medicine in 2003. He has been working at the Acad. G. Chapidze Emergency Cardiology Center in the field of anesthesiology-resuscitation. Since 2013, he has been the Head of Postoperative Resuscitation at the Department of Surgery.
Mariam Margvelashvili-Malament DMD, MSc, PhD, FACP
Dr. Margvelashvili-Malament received her DMD from the Tbilisi State University, also Master of Science and PhD Degrees in Dental Materials from the University of Siena, Italy.
Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Tufts University (Boston, USA) School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). She is the Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics.
She has lectured internationally in Continuing Education Courses; has published numerous scientific articles as well as serves as a reviewer for international journals.
