Training Sessions within the Framework of the ETHICS Project - the Second Iteration

In March, 2025, the second iteration of training sessions were held within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project "Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS)" for representatives of faculties of the Tbilisi State University (TSU). Namely,

  • March 18, 2025 – Online training by Associate Professor Helen Gelashvili at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (participated 15 doctoral and master’s students).
  • March 27, 2025 – Online training by Associate Professor Moris Shalikashvili at the Faculty of Law (participated 14 doctoral students).
  • March 28, 2025 – Online training by Professor Magda Tsintsadze  at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences and Medicine (participated 6 doctoral students).
  • March 28, 2025 – In-person training by Associate Professor Ia Natsvlishvili at the Faculty of Economics and Business (participated 15 participants).
  • March 28, 2025 – In-person training by Associate Professor  Moris Shalikashvili at the Faculty of Law  (participated 10 master’s students).

 

The pilot implementation of training module at TSU successfully introduced doctoral and master’s students to key principles of research ethics and integrity. The sessions achieved high levels of participation, engagement, and satisfaction across faculties. Participant feedback and pilot experience demonstrate that the training module is relevant, impactful, and scalable. The bilingual Moodle course, openly accessible to the entire university community, ensures sustainability. The translated and subtitled materials make the content inclusive for all stakeholders.

 

Overall, the training sessions were fruitful and serve as a strong foundation for institutional integration and long-term advancement of research ethics and integrity education at TSU.

 

Training for Scientists and Young Researchers - Registration

As part of the ERASMUS+ project "Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities  (ETHICS)," a training session for scientists and young researchers is planned for March. The training will focus on research ethics and integrity. The goal of the training is to raise awareness in this field, provide key knowledge, inform participants about new trends in research ethics and integrity, and enhance essential skills needed for successful academic work.

Training Sessions within the Framework of the ETHICS Project - the First Iteration

In June of 2024, the first iteration of training sessions were held within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project "Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS)" for representatives of faculties of the Tbilisi State University (TSU).

  • On June 7, 2024, “Train the Trainers” online session was held (via Zoom) for nominated faculty representatives. The training was attended by 15 participants.
  • On June 13, 2024, the training session was held for students of the joint PhD program in "Educational Sciences" at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of TSU. The training covered "Components of Research Ethics and the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity." The training was attended by 15 participants.
  • On June 24, 2024, another training session was held for students of various PhD programs at TSU, titled "Components of Research Ethics and the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity." The training was attended by 19 participants from the following PhD educational programs: Computer Science, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Urban Studies, Law, Sociology of Culture and Media, Social and Political Sciences, Economics, and Political Science.

Participants were selected via open registration.

 

Training for Doctoral Students

Supporting training for researchers and doctoral students is planned within the framework of the ERASMUS + project "Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS)". The training will cover the components of research ethics and the The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity. The latest material (translated into Georgian) will be shared, which will help involved persons to conduct further research activities.

 

The training will be held online on Monday, June 24, 2024,12:00-13:30.

TRAINING OF RESEARCHERS AND RESEARCH SUPPORT [INTEGRITY] OFFICERS WITHIN THE FRAMES OF ETHICS PROJECT

On October 11-12, 2023 Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University hosted a 3-day intensive Training of Researchers and Research Support [INTEGRITY] Officers organized by Ilia State University and carried out by the representatives of ETHICS project EU partners. The training was carried out within the frame of EU funded Erasmus + CBHE Strand 3 project Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS).

 

Training was carried out by the relevant experts from Amsterdam University, Masaryk University and European Network of Academic Integrity. During the training sessions the following topics were covered: Research Ethics and Integrity, Preventing and Deterring Misconduct in Academic and Research Environments, Reporting and Managing Allegations of Misconduct in Academic and Research Environments, Ethical Approval Systems, Authorship & Publication Ethics – Putting Policies in Place, The Role of The Research Integrity Officer and Challenges of Generative AI for Research Integrity.

 

During the wrap up of the training sessions, the importance of having national framework/code of conduct of research integrity has been highlighted and Rustaveli National Science Foundation has been assigned the leading role to this task.
