Shota Potolashvili, Head of the Quality Assurance Service at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, participated in the work of the General Assembly and Conference of the European University Association (EUA). The event took place in Istanbul on April 16–17, 2026.

The main goal of the conference was to deepen cooperation among higher education institutions and strengthen sustainability. This year’s conference explored the theme “University cooperation in changing contexts,” examining how geopolitics, technology, sustainability and economic forces are reshaping collaboration across institutions, with government, industry and international partners. The event brought together university leaders and representatives of the academic field, who discussed the role and challenges of higher education in a rapidly changing global environment.

The European University Association (EUA) is one of the largest university associations, bringing together more than 900 universities and national rectors’ conferences from 48 European countries. The organization actively works on the development of higher education policy and practice in Europe, focusing on quality assurance, internationalization, governance, and funding, and also implements transnational and institutional development projects.
