The Office of the Student Ombudsman is a structural unit of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), operating in accordance with the principles of independence and impartiality. Irakli Samkharadze, Doctor of Law, has been serving as the Student Ombudsman since 2022.

The Office of the Student Ombudsman at TSU is a mechanism for the protection of students’ constitutional right to receive an education and choose its form, as well as other rights and freedoms related to this right. The guiding values ​​of the Office are independence, neutrality, collegiality, confidentiality and academic integrity.

Students may contact the Office of the Student Ombudsman voluntarily. The main goal of the Student Ombudsman is to identify violations and restrictions of students’ rights and freedoms at TSU, to respond to such facts in accordance with legal regulations and submit recommendations to the University Administration to ensure the protection and full implementation of students’ rights and freedoms. The Student Ombudsman acts as a mediator in conflicting relations between the parties, in cases where there may be violations of the rules and restrictions of students’ rights and freedoms.
