Nugzar Surguladze
Born on 29.11.1950 in Tbilisi.
August 17-31, 2010 – Acting Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Historian-Orientalist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Full Professor.
In 1972, he graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, specializing in regional geography.
In 1976-1984, he was a junior researcher at the Institute of History and Ethnography of TSU.
In 1984-1993 he served as a senior research fellow at the Institute of History and Ethnography of TSU.
In 1993-2006 he was a leading researcher at the Institute of History and Ethnography of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
From 2010 to the present day - the director of the Research Institute of Ancient Georgian Law, Romanistics (Roman Private Law) and History of Law of the Faculty of Law.
Since 2003, he has been a senior research fellow at Tinatin Tsereteli Institute of Law.
He is the author of 52 scientific papers, 6 monographs, 3 textbooks.
He was a member of the TSU Law Faculty Council and the TSU Law Faculty Dissertation Board.
He has lectured and continues to lecture: 1. History of Georgian Law; 2. History of Georgian Legal Doctrines; 3. Islamic Law; 4. Fundamentals of Roman Law; 5. History of Law of Foreign Countries; 6. Introduction to Philosophy of Law.
