Jaba Samushia Opens Scientific Conference

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia opened a scientific conference dedicated to Georgian literature during World War II.

Georgian scholars presented reports on the work of Georgian writers during that time. As part of the conference, the Faculty of Humanities of Tbilisi State University prepared a small anthology of writers from that period.

“The anthology presents the works of Georgian writers from the World War II era, on which our employees worked hard. Although it is Soviet-era literature, many of the poems are remarkable literary works. I think young people have the opportunity to make this their own area of research and produce interesting work,” said Jaba Samushia.

The scientific conference “World War II and Georgian Writing” was organized by the Faculty of Humanities of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

“World War II demanded the greatest sacrifices, and our country played a significant role in this war. It was a story that affected every family. All this could not but be reflected in Georgian writing and literature, which is the focus of our conference. A small anthology, prepared as part of this conference, will introduce the younger generation to the feelings that accompanied the war and are reflected in our literature,” noted Darejan Tvaltvadze, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at TSU.

Representatives from Akaki Tsereteli State University, Ilia State University, Gori State University, Zugdidi State University, Sukhumi State University, Ilia Chavchavadze National Library of Georgia, I. Stalin State Museum, G. Leonidze State Museum of Georgian Literature, Mirza Gelovani Memorial House-Museum participated in the conference.
