Tbilisi State University Rector Jaba Samushia, students, professors and administrative staff laid a wreath at the grave of the university’s founder Ivane Javakhishvili on the occasion of the 148th anniversary of his birth.
“Ivane Javakhishvili played a great role in the formation of the Georgian state and Georgian science. Years ago, I had the pleasure of working on the encyclopedia of Ivane Javakhishvili and studying his archives. Although we knew a lot from the biography of this amazing person, in addition to his scientific achievements, we saw his personal values. We are happy to continue his work and serve science,” said Jaba Samushia.
As part of the events dedicated to the 148th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili’s birth, a scientific conference and a University Book Festival were also held at TSU.
