Jaba Samushia Meets with Participants of Student Project

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, opened the event of the student project – “Promoting the Integration of Ethnic Minorities in the Academic-University Space,” which was held within the framework of the volunteer competition “StudFest 2024”.

A large-scale student festival “StudFest 2024” is being held as part of the cooperation between the Youth Agency and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, with a volunteer competition being one of its activities.

A student conference on ethnic minorities was held at the main event of the TSU student team’s project. Also, a public lecture “Multiethnic Environment in Georgia” and a presentation on the 1+4 educational program were held for young people from ethnic minorities.

Rector Jaba Samushia said that TSU students took part in several interesting projects at StudFest. “The project implemented by our students represents the main idea on which our state and university stand: unity regardless of nationality or religion. The university was founded as a common educational center in Transcaucasia. This is the university founded on a unique idea, a unified educational space,” said Jaba Samushia. He also talked about the 1+4 educational program, which helps young people from ethnic minorities learn the state language.

At the event, Vakhtang Baakashvili, Acting Head of the Youth Agency, talked about the Youth Agency’s main programs and projects for this year.

24 universities are participating in the competition. Each team must present a relevant and innovative idea based on voluntary principles that will bring welfare to society. The contestants will be evaluated by a jury. The winning team will participate in an international youth event.
