Jaba Samushia Elected Vice President of the AUF Rectors’ Conference in Central and Eastern Europe

 

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia was elected Vice President of the Conference of Rectors of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) in Central and Eastern Europe at the Rectors’ Conference held in Bucharest, upon the nomination of the Georgian delegation. The Georgian delegation included the President of the Caucasus University, Kakha Shengelia and the Rector of the Akaki Tsereteli State University, Shalva Kirtadze. For the first time in the history of the Francophone University Agency (AUF), a Georgian representative was elected Vice President of the Central and Eastern European Rectors’ Conference.

 

The decision to elect Rector Samushia as Vice President was made at the Regional Conference of Rectors of the AUF Central and Eastern European Universities, where the issues of university management, research, innovation and digital transformation were discussed. A new Regional Board of Rectors of Central and Eastern European Universities of AUF was established and a new statute of the Board was developed. The President of the Board was also elected.   

 

 

The Francophone University Agency (AUF) is one of the largest associations of higher education and research institutions in the world. It brings together more than 1000 universities, colleges, university networks and scientific research centers. AUF is currently chaired by the former Romanian Minister of Education, Sorin Cimpeanu, and the former Tunisian Minister of Education, Slim Khalbous.

 

It is noteworthy that TSU has been a member of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) since 2008.
