International Conference “University Capacity Building Program”

 

Tbilisi State University (TSU) participated in the International Conference “University Capacity Development Program” (UCBP) administered by American Councils for International Education in close partnership with the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).

The event was attended by TSU Deputy Rector Erekle Astakhishvili, TSU Quality Assurance Service Head Shota Potolashvili, and TSU Faculty of Law Deputy Dean Giorgi Dgebuadze.

 

The workshop participants were welcomed by Alexander Daniels, the U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Counselor, and Aleksandre Tsuladze, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia. TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia also attended the working meeting.

The goal of the international conference was to promote research cooperation between the United States and Georgia.

The University Capacity Building Program is a grant initiative funded by the U.S. Embassy in Georgia. The program aims to strengthen the capacity of research administration and development offices at Georgian higher education institutions, thereby increasing the contribution of higher education and research institutions to improving Georgia’s economic situation.

The program includes webinars and seminars on international research and fundraising, as well as a study visit for Georgian university representatives to the United States, and a reciprocal visit for American education experts to Georgian universities.

Experts from the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the University of Chicago, Yale University, the University of Zurich, King's College London, and the American University of Beirut are also involved in the program.
