The Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation held an award ceremony for the winners of the 2024 State Grant Competition for Young Scientists.
The winners of the competition are young scientists from various fields of science, most of them from Tbilisi State University:
Tamar Nozadze - Alexander Kartvelishvili Scholar in Engineering and Technology, Doctor of Physics, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Guranda Avkopashvili - David Sarajishvili Scholar in Agrarian Science, Doctor of Chemistry, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Elephter Andronikashvili Institute of Physics.
Giorgi Amiranashvili - Dimitri Uznadze Scholar in Social Sciences, Doctor of Law, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Natia Mirotadze - Ivane Javakhishvili Scholar in the Humanities, Doctor of Philology, Korneli Kekelidze Georgian National Center of Manuscripts.
Sopio Kadagishvili - Ekvtime Takaishvili Scholar in the field of Georgian Studies, Doctor of History, TSU Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology.
The aim of the competition is to encourage young scientists who are engaged in scientific research activities in Georgian research or authorized higher education institutions, and to support their professional development. A scholarship is awarded to a young scientist based on scientific achievements and successful activities in the last three years prior to the announcement of the competition. The winners of the competition will receive a monthly scholarship for one year.
As part of the event, a special prize was awarded to Professor Nanuli Kotrikadze, the winner of the Rustaveli Foundation’s 2024 competition “Women in Science Award - for Outstanding Achievements in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology”, a scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Ana Mgebrishvili and Director General of the Rustaveli National Science Foundation Teimuraz Dochviri presented special prizes and certificates to the winners of the competition.
