Speaker of the Irish Parliament Meets with TSU Students

 

Sean O’Farrell, the Speaker of the Lower House of the Irish Parliament, visited Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on June 23. Addressing the students at Tbilisi State University, the Speaker of the Irish Parliament said that they consider themselves as citizens of the European Union and expressed his readiness to support their steps in this direction. TSU Chancellor Lasha Saghinadze hosted Sean O’Farrell. At the end of the meeting, Sean O’Farrell answered the students’ questions.

He noted that he was sure that the Georgian people were striving to join the European Union, just as the European Union was striving to see Georgia as a member. He spoke about the political and economic advantages and benefits of the European Union, as well as the support of the Irish government for Ukraine against Russian aggression.

At the meeting with the students, Sean O’Farrell pledged strong support for Georgia on its way to the European Union, saying that Georgia is in a difficult geopolitical situation and that the government and the opposition should work together on this issue and take faster and tangible steps.

Members of the Irish parliamentary delegation and Georgian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ireland, Giorgi Zurabashvili attended the meeting with students at Tbilisi State University.
