To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili’s birth, an exhibition showcasing the diverse scientific achievements of the Georgian scientist will be held on April 21, at 11:30, in the lobby of the 1st building of TSU. The event is organized by the TSU Library.
The exhibition will feature Ivane Javakhishvili’s key works, preserved in the University Library’s collections. These include his fundamental research on the history, law, economy and culture of Georgia, as well as around 100 items published by Javakhishvili in Georgian and foreign languages, in both book and periodical formats. Visitors will have the opportunity to see his first scientific article, published in 1899: Мудрость Балавара. Перевод Записки Восточнаго отделения Императорскаго Русскаго археологическаго Об-ва: т. XI.- СПб.-1899.- с.1-48., as well as other works that remain relevant to this day.
Ivane Javakhishvili is known to have shown a special interest in Georgian architectural monuments, temples and historical buildings, which he recorded on film. The exhibition will also present the scientist’s personal belongings and unique photographs taken by him and preserved in the National Centre of Manuscripts and family archives. These photographs represent important historical and documentary material.
The exhibition aims to showcase Ivane Javakhishvili’s rich scientific and cultural heritage and to recognize his contributions.
