A presentation of the first volume of Ivane Javakhishvili’s works was held at Tbilisi State University (TSU). The publication is the result of a partnership between TSU, the Korneli Kekelidze Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts, and the Georgian National Academy of Sciences.
The first volume consists of 968 pages and includes three significant works: “Patriotism and Science”, “Ancient Georgian Historical Writings”, and “Ancient Armenian Historical Writings”.
This new edition is unique in that, for the first time, readers will receive a complete academic collection of Ivane Javakhishvili’s works, including not only his scientific publications, but also archival materials and documents reflecting his public activities. The edition will be printed with a structure specific to the author, which has never been done before.
The collection’s editorial board is headed by Roin Metreveli, with Jaba Samushia and Zaza Abashidze as his deputies. Davit Sartania heads the editorial-textological commission, and Zaza Abashidze, Goneli Arakhamia and Natia Chantladze are the editors of the works included in Volume I.
The complete academic collection of Ivane Javakhishvili's works is planned to be published in 20 volumes with an author-specific structure. The second volume is scheduled for publication by the end of the year and will feature works on Georgian script, diplomacy, and numismatics-metrology.
