An international symposium “Protection of Cultural Heritage in Georgia: Cooperation between Japan and Georgia” was held at Tbilisi State University with the participation of representatives from Teikyo University (Japan). The event was opened by Darejan Tvaltvadze, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of TSU. Erekle Astakhishvili, Deputy Rector of Tbilisi State University, also addressed the audience.
Excavations and studies of various archaeological sites, including Grakliani Hill, have been underway for several years with the participation of archaeologists from TSU and Teikyo University.
Prior to the symposium, a series of lectures and seminars were also held for students of Tbilisi State University under the direction of Japanese archaeologist Professor Takeshi Aikawa of Teikyo University.
