TSU Science Festival 2025

To celebrate World Science Day, Tbilisi State University held the TSU Science Festival 2025. The festival aimed to popularize science, spark young people’s interest in research activities, and demonstrate the connection between science and everyday life. TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Zviad Gabisonia, and students and schoolchildren from Tbilisi and regional schools attended the event.

“The university is the place where the new generation should acquire scientific knowledge. This is essential for the development of the country, because countries that invest heavily in science are more stable today. Science festivals contribute to the popularization of science. Hundreds of young people and schoolchildren got acquainted with modern scientific achievements and became interested in various experiments. Hopefully, we have sparked their interest in the natural sciences,” said Jaba Samushia.

“Popularizing science is the cornerstone of higher education reform. The entry of a new generation into science is a challenge for us. We really want to solve many more tasks in this area and finance more projects like these, which the Ministry is constantly working on,” noted Zviad Gabisonia.

At the TSU Science Festival, students and professors from various natural science disciplines presented interesting experiments, discoveries, and research projects.

Representatives from the TSU Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mineralogy, Zoology, Paleontology and Innovation Centers participated in the festival. Visitors had the opportunity to conduct chemical experiments themselves, observe physics experiments, study the unique structure of minerals, learn about life a million years ago, touch paleontological specimens, view exhibits from the TSU Zoology Museum, and attend thematic lectures.

The following young and successful scientists from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at TSU were awarded as part of the festival: Irakli Chitaia, Giorgi Tutberidze, Maia Gaiozishvili, Giorgi Jibuti, and Giorgi Gaprindashvili.

November 10 is World Science Day for Peace and Development. This day highlights the important role of science in society and the involvement of the general public in scientific issues. The day also emphasizes the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.

The event was organized by TSU and the American Chemical Society (ACS) Georgian Student Chapter of TSU.
