A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between Tbilisi State University and the State Service of Veterans Affairs. The memorandum was signed by TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, and the Director of the Service, Major General Koba Kobaladze.
The meeting focused on access to education and fostering a sense of patriotism among the younger generation.
Jaba Samushia emphasized the importance of supporting veterans, noting that supporting a distinguished segment of society - veterans and their families – is a great honor and responsibility for the university. At the Rector’s initiative, public lectures will be held for university students featuring veterans. The lectures will cover topics such as the recent history of Georgia, battles for territorial integrity and independence, and heroic fighters.
There was also interest in having university students participate in the volunteer training program implemented by N(N)LE “Youth and Veterans for National Defense and Security” at the Gombori Training Center.
The purpose of the memorandum is to implement the higher education financing program for veterans and their children more effectively. This program has been in effect since 2023 and has already benefited approximately 5,000 people.
