TSU Faculty of Economics and Business Day

On the occasion of the Day of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business, TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Professor Giorgi Gaganidze, and the academic and administrative staff laid a wreath at the grave of Philipe Gogichaishvili.

The foundation for teaching economic sciences at Tbilisi University was established in 1918 at the initiative of Ivane Javakhishvili. The work was overseen by Philipe Gogichaishvili, a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Leipzig who is widely recognized as the founder of economic science in Georgia.

The Faculty of Social Economics opened at Tbilisi University on July 30, 1922, marking the beginning of economic science development and qualified personnel training in Georgia.

To celebrate Faculty Day, two auditoriums were opened in TSU Building 10 (Maglivi Building): one named after Professor Archil Gokieli and the other named after Professor Nikoloz Koiava. A student scientific conference was held with the participation of master's and doctoral students from the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business.

The TSU Faculty of Economics and Business Day has been celebrated annually on July 30 for several years.
