On the occasion of the 107th anniversary of Tbilisi State University, the Rector of TSU, Academician Jaba Samushia, students, professors, and representatives of the administration laid wreaths at the graves of the university’s founders in the TSU Pantheon.
In 1918, Ivane Javakhishvili and his associates, with 369 students and 89 trainees of the Faculty of Philosophy, laid the foundation for European-style higher education in Georgia in three rooms of the Noble Gymnasium - Tbilisi University was opened. The University immediately assumed responsibility for the education and development of the country.
Tbilisi State University remains the flagship of higher education in Georgia, with approximately 26,000 students enrolled in 240 educational programs across 7 faculties. The university also houses 16 scientific-research institutes in 30 buildings, including 12 educational buildings, and 85 laboratories.
TSU actively collaborates with more than 200 partner universities in 56 countries. TSU students, professors, and administrative staff are involved in the European Union project Erasmus + with 86 universities in 26 European countries.
