Representatives of European Universities at TSU

To strengthen cooperation with leading European universities, a delegation of more than 50 representatives of 37 higher education institutions from 11 European countries visited Tbilisi State University. Within the framework of the working meetings, members of the academic and administrative staff of the higher education institutions share their experiences, discuss the challenges in the field of international higher education, and deliberate on the issues of internationalization policy and strengthening of future cooperation.

Professor Erekle Astakhishvili, the Deputy Rector of TSU, said that internationalization is one of the main directions of Tbilisi State University. The International Staff Week, an established tradition at TSU, serves as a valuable platform for fostering international university collaboration. “This event will contribute to the development of the higher education system, the creation of an inclusive and innovative environment in universities, the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience among partners and the establishment of new contacts,” Erekle Astakhishvili noted.

“The University of Lille has been cooperating with TSU for a long time. Every year, the number of students who come to the University of Lille through a mobility program from TSU and vice versa is increasing. Tbilisi State University is focused on internationalization, and I hope that this event will promote further deepening of cooperation between our universities,” said Véronique Level, Head of the International Relations Office of the University of Lille (France).

Tea Gergedava, Head of the TSU Department of Foreign Relations, said that the composition of the participants of the International Staff Week is diverse. “Academic and administrative staff of higher education institutions from 11 countries are participating in the event. Each university has its own history, institutional culture and values. It is important for the development of international cooperation in higher education to listen to their experiences and share the approaches we use in the process of internationalization,” Tea Gergedava noted.

Organized by the TSU Department of Foreign Relations, the International Staff Week has been held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University since 2017.
