A final meeting of the TSU Envoy 2024 project was held to promote the development of non-formal education and introduce volunteering practices among students at Tbilisi State University. TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia met with the young participants and wished them success.
“The TSU Envoy project is important because it gives our students the opportunity to visit their former schools and speak with schoolchildren - our future students – about topics that interest them, such as the educational programs at Tbilisi State University, active student life, and studying abroad through exchange programs. I wish each TSU Envoy success in this important endeavor. As part of the project, our scientists will visit schools and hold various activities to spark the schoolchildren’s interest in science. It is a valuable opportunity for higher education institutions and schools to collaborate,” said Jaba Samushia.
The Children's University project TSU Envoy has been operating for 12 years. The project’s goal is to introduce the university's educational programs and student life to students in their home school. Interest in the project among students is constantly growing. This year, about 600 students expressed interest in participating, and 330 of them gained envoy status after undergoing training and mastering the necessary presentation skills.
Envoys involved in the project have the opportunity to engage in various activities important to them that contribute to their professional and career development. The project addresses the needs defined by the university’s third mission and contributes to societal development.
For the second year in a row, the Bank of Georgia is the project partner, ensuring the branding of the project participants. This year is special because the project has a new supporter: the Digital Institute. As part of the partnership, the Digital Institute will fully fund 20 envoys to take the course of their choice. In addition, all envoys will receive a 50% discount on any course they choose.
With the support of the TSU Administration and Rector’s Office, the TSU Envoy program is one of the first youth volunteering platforms in Georgia. It helps student volunteers implement interesting ideas and activities.
