Cooperation between TSU and American University

Jaba Samushia, Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, met with Jennifer Holmes, Dean of the School of Economics, Political and Policy Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas (USA) and Juan González, Dean of Graduate Education and Vice Provost for Global Engagement, Professor of Molecular Biology.
 

TSU and the University of Texas at Dallas (USA) have been awarded a joint grant from the U.S. Department of State. The State Department grant provides support for doctoral students and young scientists in natural sciences, economics and business, and promotes the development of their research and academic skills.
 

At the meeting, Rector Samushia emphasized that cooperation with American universities is a strategic priority of TSU. Tbilisi State University will do its best to turn the relations with American universities into a long-term relationship within the framework of the U.S. State Department grant.
 

The American partners also met with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nunu Mitskevich, representatives and students of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of TSU. After the meetings, they announced their plans to establish intensive cooperation with Tbilisi State University.
 

Selection interviews for the first cohort were held in early March. Representatives of TSU and other public research universities participated. American and TSU experts interviewed 11 applicants. The first cohort of selected applicants will visit the University of Texas in June-July 2023.
