TSU Participates in the 1st International Scientific Conference on Mediation at Pomeranian University in Słupsk

Prof. Irakli Burduli, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution of TSU, and Academic Director, Prof. Natia Chitashvili paid a scientific and educational visit to the Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Poland. During the visit, TSU professors participated in an international scientific conference and led educational activities in the field of mediation.

TSU initiated and actively supported the establishment of a Mediation Center at the Pomeranian University in 2024. The center aims to develop education and practice in the field of mediation. The center is already carrying out scientific and practical activities, serving as a successful example of Georgian-Polish cooperation.

With the support of TSU and the Texas Southern University School of Law, an international scientific conference was held at the Pomeranian University in Słupsk on the topic: “Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution as Mechanisms and Instruments of Civil Society: History, Present and Future.” Representatives from the TSU National Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution, as well as leading scientists from Poland, the United States and other countries, presented their reports at the event.

During the visit, TSU Professor Natia Chitashvili conducted an intensive mediation training course in English for students from various faculties of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk. The course was based on modern international practice and theory, aiming to teach students the basic principles and skills of mediation.

This international scientific conference on mediation was held for the first time at the Pomeranian University in Słupsk. Its success paved the way for holding similar events annually. It is planned to deepen academic and practical cooperation in the future with joint participation of Georgian, Polish and American professors and students. This collaboration will significantly contribute to the development of mediation in both Georgia and Poland.
