90th Birth Anniversary of Jansug Kordzaia

A commemorative evening marking the 90th birth anniversary of Professor Jansug Kordzaia was held at Tbilisi State University. Family members, students and friends remembered the Georgian poet and philosopher.
 

Acting Rector of Tbilisi State University, Jaba Samushia spoke about Kordzaia’s contribution and his creative work. He recalled the works associated with Professor Kordzaia’s name. “Jansug Kordzaia has very interesting scientific works in culturology, philosophy of behavior. His work as a poet, namely his cycle of poems on the history of Georgia, is also worth noting,” Jaba Samushia noted.
 

For years, Jansug Kordzaia had been a TSU Professor, Head of the Department and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. Nana Gaprindashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of TSU, spoke about his university and scientific work: “Jansug Kordzaia was a great scientist, Doctor of Philosophy, who educated many generations of philosophers. At the same time, he was a poet and a novelist. The university is a space where there must be a connection between generations, where we should share with new generations the traditions, the names that existed at Tbilisi State University.”
 

Jansug Kordzaia has published 13 poetry collections and 2 novels. 
 

“Jansugh Kordzaia was a very noble person, a deep philosopher, and an outstanding Georgian. His philosophy was distinguished by an amazing approach, it was cognition, gnoseology, he worked in this direction. In addition, he was a poet and a writer, his name is associated with several very interesting and important works,” TSU Professor Demur Jalagonia said.
 

 By decision of the Tbilisi City Assembly, one of the streets in Tbilisi has been named after Jansug Kordzaia. At the event, friends, colleagues, students and invited guests recalled the stories related to Jansug Kordzaia.
