The Center for Lifelong Learning of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University offers a new training course “Recommendations for food business operators to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)” by Giorgi Mikadze, Academic Doctor of Medical Science and Head of the Food Safety Department at the National Food Agency, and Ketevan Dadiani, Associate Professor of the TSU Faculty of Medicine, Director of the Institute of Sanitary, Hygiene and Medical Ecology.
The course is designed for:
Persons with degrees or general education, as well as people with contiguous professions who, stemming from their activities or future perspectives, are interested in passing the program and/or need to prove their competences about the recommendations for people working in the field of food safety to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The precondition for joining the course: basic level of general education
Additional requirement – minimum age 18 years
The purpose and anticipated results of the course: to train food safety specialists who will be able to implement and control those measures that are needed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as to give interested persons relevant recommendations.
A student will get knowledge about:
Potential threats affecting food safety (physical, chemical, biological, including virological); legislative and recommendatory requirements for food business operators in Georgia and other countries related to the measures on preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19);
Students will be able to use their knowledge in practice; to participate in introducing the measures aimed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in various enterprises; also to issue recommendations and control the fulfillment of these recommendations;
Students will also be able to assess the effectiveness of control measures introduced by food business operators in respect of the emergence, detection and prevention of potential threats (physical, chemical, biological) affecting food safety in various enterprises; to identify discrepancies and their causes, to give food business operators relevant advises and recommendations;
Based on received knowledge and information, to search for relevant sources that will ensure their lifelong professional development;
Students will be able to establish communication with business operators, other stakeholders involved in this sphere, also to acquire necessary listening and understanding skills; skills to use information and communication technologies in their respective activities.
If needed, online platform Zoom will be used in the learning process.
