"Congratulations on International Nurses Day and on the successful completion of the International Week of Laboratory Medicine. These two areas are crucial for the field of medicine and are also important for the Vocational Education Center of Tbilisi State University, as for several years now we have taken on the responsibility of training and retraining specialists in this field," said Inesa Vatsadze, Deputy Head of the Vocational Education Center at TSU, during her speech at the clinical conference dedicated to International Nurses Day and the International Week of Laboratory Medicine.
The conference was organized by the network of clinics 'Geo Hospitals,' a partner of the TSU Vocational Education Center, and serves as the primary base for practical training in the professional nursing education program.
As Inesa Vatsadze noted, several years ago, with the support of the European Union, the Center launched the vocational retraining program “Laboratory Health and Safety”, through which 120 specialists have already been retrained. In 2024, the implementation of the vocational program “Nursing Education” began. The program is led by Nona Goshadze, Head of the Nursing Development Department at GeoHospitals.
The conference was held in two sessions – “Nursing Education – A Path of Continuous Development” and “Laboratory – A Guide to Accurate Diagnostics.” In addition to the presentations, the conference participants were addressed by KTQ international accreditation expert, Professor Thomas Kissinger of the University of Bochum in Germany, and nursing education expert, Assistant Professor at the University of West Georgia and Professor at Duquesne University in the USA, Kimberly Crawford.
The GeoHospitals network unites 25 medical institutions, all accredited and holding the KTQ quality management certificate for compliance with international standards.
