Dual Master’s Degree with Vidzeme University

The dual master’s degree program in European Studies and Strategic Communication and Governance, created through collaboration between Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Latvia’s Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, will be launched from 2022. Graduates of the program will be awarded diplomas from both universities. This is the second dual master’s degree program introduced by the TSU Institute for European Studies.

The TSU Institute for European Studies held a presentation of the dual master’s degree program within the framework of Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project (EUSTBA) and hosted a two-day international conference. On the sidelines of the conference, Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze and Rector of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Agnese Dāvidsone signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

“Another dual degree program has been added to Tbilisi State University. It will be a very good combination of two programs, which will allow students to study at TSU and Vidzeme University and get a dual degree diploma,” Rector George Sharvashidze said.

Rector of Vidzeme University, Agnese Dāvidsone noted that the proposed course will be a good opportunity for students from both Georgia and Latvia. She stressed that the combination of what is taught in the European Studies and Strategic Communication and Governance programs will yield good results.

“The TSU Institute for European Studies launched negotiations onthe dual degree program with Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in 2019. The program will come into force as soon as the cooperation agreement is signed and the students of the MA Program in European Studies will be able to travel to Latvia already this year,” Nino Lapiashvili, Director of the TSU Institute for European Studies, said.

The agreement on creating another dual degree program in European Studies and European Law was signed between TSU and Vilnius University in January 2022. The first cohort of students will be enrolled in the program in 2022-2023.
