Following the adoption of a new, transparent regulation on the funding of student projects at Tbilisi State University, TSU students have the opportunity three times a year to apply for funding of submitted scientific and cultural/sports/educational projects. 

 

More than 350 student events are held at Tbilisi State University every year, including graduation and freshman admission ceremonies, concerts, competitions, etc.

 

Creative and sports teams of Tbilisi State University are: Choreographic Ensemble "University", Men's Vocal Ensemble "University", Traditional Vocal Instrumental Ensemble "University", Theater "Skhveni", "Capella", Men's and Women's Volleyball Teams, Professional and Student Basketball Teams, Athletics, Table Tennis, Rugby Team, Archery, Professional and Student Futsal Teams, Club of Cheerful and Sharp-Witted, Hiking Club "TSU".

 

In 2023 the choreographic ensemble "University" took part in music festivals in France and Bulgaria. At the festival organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of China it won the title of the best ensemble. In 2024 the vocal ensemble "University" took the first place at the 76th International Folklore Festival "Mandorlo in Fiore" in Agrigento, Italy.

 

In 2023 the theater company "Skhveni" presented the following plays: "Funny Novels", "In the Shadow of the Moonlit Night", "Blue Bird". The troupe was invited to the festival in Hungary, where it presented the play "Theatrical Clowning".

 

In 2023 the TSU Student Capella participated in the 19th International Choir Festival Munduus Cantat Sopot and was named among the winners, winning the Grand Prix. In addition, Lasha Mirotadze, the leader of the Capella, was named the best conductor of the competition.

 

Basketball club "TSU" is the winner of the Georgian Cup 2024. In 2023 the basketball team of Tbilisi State University became the champion of the Georgian Super League and the winner of the Georgian Cup. In the same year it also won the Super Cup.

 

In 2023, the TSU futsal team was the winner of League 2 and the Georgian Universiade.

 

In 2023, the women’s volleyball team won the first place at the Georgian Universiade. In 2024, it became the prize winner of the “StudFest 2024” and the winner of the Winter Universiade.

 

In 2023, the student rugby team won the Winter Cup.

 

Among the student contests organized by TSU is the Autumn Legend literary contest, which offers novice writers a chance to take their first literary steps.

 

In 2024, the first competition concert of TSU STARS was held with the aim of discovering talented young people in the university environment and encouraging them with creative opportunities. The contestants actively rehearsed with their mentor and performed songs with a live band at the competition.
