Between April 1933 and July 1935, Levan Aghniashvili followed A. Erkomaishvili as Rector of the university.
Levan Aghniashvili was born on August 14, 1897, in Tbilisi and was a jurist and professor by profession. In 1918, he was exiled from Georgia on a charge of fighting against the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Levan Aghniashvili served as a representative of the Georgian Central Union in Germany (1923-1925). He returned to Tbilisi State University and gave lectures and acted as a Director of the Transcaucasia Forest Research Institute. During his administration, the State University Press was established. Levan Aghniashvili was shot in 1937.
