In a joint initiative involving the National Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution of Tbilisi State University, the Mediators Association of Georgia, and the Pomeranian University in Słupsk (Poland), the Center for Mediation and Dispute Resolution was established at the Institute of Law and Administration of Pomeranian University in Słupsk.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of Polish and other European higher education institutions, the Polish judiciary, and professional organizations of mediators. In collaboration with institutional partners, the National Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution provided invaluable intellectual resources to facilitate an important institutional cooperation in the fields of institutionalizing mediation in Poland, conducting research, enhancing the quality of education, and reinforcing legal education.
The foundation will be laid for the professional training of mediators and the organization of certificate programs. A mediation clinic will be introduced in the university curricula, which, together with university education, will provide internships for students in court mediation programs. Furthermore, an academic tradition of an annual scientific conference and mock competitions in mediation with the involvement of academic staff and representatives of the justice system will be established. Starting in 2025, educational mobility programs for professors and young scientists will be implemented within the framework of the Erasmus + program. Additionally, an internationally refereed scientific journal in the field of alternative dispute resolution will be published, thereby facilitating the internationalization of scientific research on mediation.
