The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia held a meeting with the participants of the 2024 Javakheti Student Expedition. The students provided the Rector with a comprehensive overview of the cultural and educational events and activities that have been conducted as part of the expedition and talked about the project’s future development plans.
The student expedition has been organized with the support of Tbilisi State University for 24 years. Since its inception in 2001, more than 2500 students have participated in the project.
The expedition was financed as part of the TSU student projects. The objective of the project is to foster interest among students in one of the regions of Georgia - Javakheti; to facilitate integration with the Armenian-speaking, Greek-speaking and Georgian populations; to plan and implement a range of educational activities in collaboration with local youth; and to familiarize students with cultural heritage monuments in the Akhalkalaki, Akhaltsikhe, Aspindza and Ninotsminda municipalities.
The Javakheti Student Expedition is held annually with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, following the initiative of Metropolitan Nikoloz (Pachuashvili) of Akhalkalaki, Kumurdo and Kari.
