Academician Jaba Samushia, the Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, hosted Yusuf Yilmaz, the Rector of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (Rize University) of the Republic of Turkey, and other university representatives.
During the meeting, which was attended by TSU deans and administrative staff, the two parties discussed expanding their existing cooperation in education, scientific research, culture and sports. Particular attention was paid to international partnerships and the development and implementation of a dual-degree Georgian language educational program. Representatives from TSU and the Turkish university agreed to collaborate to ensure the effective and accelerated implementation of the cooperation program. TSU also expressed interest in opening a Georgian language learning center in Rize and organizing summer language schools for students.
During the meeting between the representatives of the two universities, a significant amount of time was devoted to discussing ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of medicine. It was noted that TSU students have completed internships at leading Turkish clinics, and they plan to increase the number of students participating in the exchange program in the future. They also discussed joint projects for academic personnel, including simulation training. The meeting also focused on the planning and implementing joint programs in psychology, education, and social and political sciences.
“Tbilisi State University is ready to cooperate in all areas that will offer new development opportunities to our students and academic staff. The leadership of Rize University in Turkey in teaching the Georgian language is also noteworthy. This is very important to us, so it is only natural that Rize University become our partner in this endeavor,” noted TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Rector Yusuf Yilmaz emphasized the importance of scientific and cultural cooperation with Georgia. He stated that the strategic partnership with Tbilisi State University strengthens not only the academic sphere, but also the historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
