Jaba Samushia Meets with First Semester Students

The new 2024-2025 academic year has commenced at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia held meetings with 6,200 first semester students enrolled at the bachelor’s level as a result of the unified national exams and congratulated them on the beginning of the academic year.

 

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, together with the deans of the faculties and the representatives of the student self-government, provided the students with comprehensive information about the university’s projects and services.

 

“I would like to extend my congratulations to all students on the commencement of their studies. It is noteworthy that Tbilisi State University continues to be the preeminent institution of higher education in Georgia. This year, the university welcomed 6,200 first-semester students. Tbilisi State University will provide these students with the contemporary learning format and services that are available at the world’s leading universities. Each professor and teacher at this institution is dedicated to providing our students with a contemporary European education. Significant progress has been made at the university with regard to infrastructure enhancement. Plans are in place to develop new textbooks, publish new scientific journals, implement new scientific projects, and it is hoped that those freshmen who enrolled in the university this year will play an active role in these projects,” Jaba Samushia said.

 

The Rector of Tbilisi State University bestowed certificates upon the students with the highest scores in the first semester enrolled in different faculties of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University as a result of the unified national examinations of 2024.

 

A month before the start of the new academic year, TSU was granted full and unconditional six-year authorization with the highest assessment. This decision was made by the Authorization Council of Higher Educational Institutions following an assessment conducted by foreign and Georgian highly qualified experts.

 

TSU meets up to 26,000 students and 3,000 professors and teachers at all three levels with refurbished infrastructure: within the framework of rehabilitation projects, a social space has been created in the inner yard of the 3rd educational building. The works to refurbish the inner yard in the 5th building have been completed. In the 10th (Maglivi) building, the central staircase is being rehabilitated. The central heating system is being adjusted in the building of the TSU Central Library. In the courtyard of the 1st building of TSU, students will have access to a renovated food facility – the TSU cafeteria.
