During the 90th anniversary event of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the university and scientific activities.
In his speech, Rector Samushia emphasized the historical and national significance of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in the region and the country.
“On behalf of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and our professors, I congratulate Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University on its 90th anniversary. I wish you even more success and contributions to the development of our country. You are the true guardians of our country – as you guard the great gate that has posed many challenges to Georgia for centuries. Thanks to your merits and the strength of this university, which has brought Georgian spirit, knowledge and a strong tradition of education to Adjara, today an important national goal has been achieved to promote the integrity of our country,” said Jaba Samushia.
At the ceremony, honorary doctorates were also awarded to professors from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Tbilisi State University: Elguja Mekvabishvili and Davit Narmania.
The ceremony took place at the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze Drama Theater, where the university’s 90-year history and significant achievements were highlighted once again.
