A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Academician Jaba Samushia, Rector of Tbilisi State University, and Zaza Purtseladze, Director of the British Council Georgia. The agreement provides for the implementation of a free training course for English philology students of the TSU Faculty of Humanities, to be conducted by British experts.
“It is crucial to enhance linguistic proficiency at Tbilisi State University and equip our students with the skills to excel in the European market. I hope that future collaboration will facilitate the retraining of educators in contemporary pedagogical approaches,” said Rector Jaba Samushia.
"For us, collaboration with Tbilisi State University and the TSU Language Center is of significant value. I am confident that this project will be a success and that our collaboration will continue in the future. While the English language is a key focus, our work also encompasses transnational education. This involves the collaboration of Georgian and British universities in the implementation of joint programs. It is our hope that the collaboration initiated within the framework of this project will be further intensified,” stated Zaza Purtseladze, Director of the British Council Georgia.
The collaboration between TSU and the British Council was initiated by the TSU Language Center. The training program is designed for students who aspire to become English language teachers. The online training will be conducted by British experts with the support of British Council employees. The online training course comprises self-paced modules and opportunities for interaction with the British course mentor, local facilitators and other course participants.
