Scientific Conference - Konstantine Gamsakhurdia: National Identity and Universal Values

 

The scientific conference, “Konstantin Gamsakhurdia: National Identity and Universal Values” opened at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). The conference was opened by TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia.

“The creative work of Konstantine Gamsakhurdia is a synthesis of national identity and universal values. His works create a bridge between Georgian culture and the global intellectual community. People like him remind us that our literature has global importance,” the Rector noted.

The following people gave welcoming speeches: Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, director of the National Library of Georgia and grandson of the Georgian writer and public figure of the same name; Darejan Tvaltvadze, dean of TSU’s Faculty of Humanities; and Irma Ratiani, director of the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature at TSU.

An exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Konstantine Gamsakhurdia will also be held at the TSU Museum as part of the event.

The conference will continue on May 27-28 and will include sessions in which scholars, researchers, and students will discuss Gamsakhurdia’s work and its significance in the context of national identity and universal values.
