8th International Staff Week at TSU

The 8th International Staff Week was opened at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University within the framework of the Erasmus + program of the European Union. A total of 30 representatives from 18 institutions in 11 European countries (Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, and Turkey) are participating in the event.

The International Staff Week, a dialogue platform established for the purpose of fostering collaboration with leading European universities, serves to facilitate the exchange of international experience in the domain of education, promote a nuanced understanding of the present circumstances in our country, and introduce exemplary practices.

TSU Deputy Rector Erekle Astakhishvili welcomed the participants of the International Staff Week and discussed the role and importance of Tbilisi State University in the field of Georgian education. He emphasized the significance of this EU initiative: “The student and staff mobility program facilitates the alignment of the Georgian education system with the EU education system. The student and staff mobility contributes not only to the cultural exchange, but also to the quality of education and the exchange of teaching methodologies. It is through the mobility program that we address deficiencies, break barriers and pave the way for a more inclusive, global education system.”

Tea Gergedava, head of the Department of Foreign Relations of TSU, indicated that “the theme of this year’s event is ‘Prospects and Challenges of International Exchange Programs from Both Academic and Administrative Points of View.’ In collaboration with the representatives of the partner European universities, we are exploring avenues for enhancing the collaboration between our institutions by leveraging the extensive experience gained in working with international academic foundations and organizations. The objective is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, thereby strengthening ties in the field of education.”

Over the course of one week, representatives from Georgian and European universities will engage in discourse pertaining to the internationalization of knowledge, the characteristics of higher education institutions, and the impact of student and staff mobility on individual and professional development.
