The VII International Congress of Caucasologists “Caucasus - Interdisciplinary Studies - Languages, Peoples, Cultures, Genetic Research” was opened at Tbilisi State University.
The aim of the Congress is to discuss the cultural and civilizational context of the languages and peoples of the Caucasus region in a historical context based on the results of interdisciplinary research; determine the humanitarian, environmental, political and economic challenges of the Caucasus region; develop a scientific basis for activities to address these challenges; identify opportunities for the conservation of linguistic and biodiversity in the Caucasus.
The Congress paid special attention to the issues of the viability and functioning of the Caucasian languages; as well as the physical anthropology of Caucasian peoples, the results of genetic studies, and how these studies relate to archaeological and linguistic studies.
There will be nine sections working at the Congress on September 25 and 26. TSU and Caucasus International University are organizing the Congress. On September 26, Caucasus International University will host the Congress sections and the plenary session.
Caucasologists from international research and training centers are attending the Congress. Colleagues from the North Caucasus are also attending. The Congress program, materials, and other publications were printed in accordance with the work plan.
