“Mathematics is my life companion, a part of me,” says Elizbar Nadaraya, a professor at Tbilisi State University, whose work has advanced the fields of mathematics and statistics for decades.
He began his scientific career immediately after leaving school by enrolling in the Faculty of Mathematics, and mathematics has remained an integral part of his life ever since. He studied under prominent scientists including Archil Kharadze, Vladi Chelidze and Viktor Kupradze.
Elizbar Nadaraya’s research has made a significant contribution to the development of modern mathematical statistics. His greatest scientific achievement is the “nonparametric kernel regression estimator function,” also known as the Nadaraya-Watson Estimator. This method is used today in many fields, including medicine, finance, artificial intelligence, music, astronomy, biology, etc.
He is the author of around 200 scientific papers, five monographs, and three textbooks. His works are included in lecture courses at leading universities around the world, and he has a citation index of 7,650.
Nadaraya advises students: “Love your job, work hard, and learn, and your hard work will definitely yield results.”
