24th Annual International Conference on American Studies

 

The 24th Annual International Conference on American Studies was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on May 18. The conference was organized by the Institute of American Studies of TSU and the Georgian Association of American Studies.

Nino Gvenetadze, Vice Rector of TSU, John Ferri, Press Attaché of the U.S. Embassy to Georgia, Vasil Kacharava, Head of the Institute of American Studies of the Faculty of Humanities, professors, students attended the opening of the conference.

The event was dedicated to the 1783 Treaty of Paris and the 240th anniversary of the end of the war between the United States and Great Britain.

About 100 speakers participated in various sections of the conference. The papers presented covered American history, politics, education, religion, architecture, literature, art, philosophy, mass media, law, economics, science, technology, social and women’s issues.

The best papers presented at the conference will be published in the Journal of American Studies.
