The purpose of the MA program is to train a highly skilled specialist who will meet modern requirements in educational psychology and research.
A graduate of TSU Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, or a bachelor of social and political sciences from any accredited Georgian university; no work experience is required.
An applicant has to submit certificates of participation in academic conferences, research expeditions, foreign internships, empirical research (if any such exists), etc. This information will not be taken into consideration in examination evaluations. It will be used as the means of additional evaluation if applicants receive equal points.
Applicants need to receive minimum points at MA exams to be involved in the program.
Applicants will be enrolled based on the results of exams in specialization and English language test (B2). Exams in specialization contain topics from educational psychology and research methods. The MA exam will be held according to the examination system developed by the TSU administration. The exam will be held in written.
The results: At the End of the Program the Student will have well-grounded theoretical knowledge and practical skills, with which the student will be able to serve children, teenagers and youths in all institutions (school, family, university, etc.) where they grow and mature, to assist in their development, maximal use of psychic recourses and minimization of problems.At the End of the Program the Student will be able to help teaching establishments in refinement of learning and teaching process, support professional development of teachers, improve psychological climate of the institution, manage teaching process.At the End of the Program the Student will be able to design, organize and carry out a research of high quality based on the needs of the teaching institution. The student will also be able to make logical conclusions based on the findings of the research.
The structure: The program consists of 120 credits, out of which 100 is for mandatory subjects, from which 20 credit is for practical work, while 30 is for master’s thesis. A student should also get 10 credits from mandatory elective subjects and 10 from elective subjects. There are four 5-credit classes, that fill mandatory elective’s requirement. They will be distributed for over three semesters and offered accordingly. A student should fill their required 10 credit by their decision. A student has the ability to fill in the other 10 credit elective subject requirement by any subjects/classes offered by the University’s master program.
The program graduates will be able to work on the following positions: psychologist in education system; school psychologist; senior/leading researcher; senior/leading research and evaluation specialist; program coordinator; consultant; teacher (after certification); researcher at state, private and non-government organizations.
