Applied Social Psychology is one of fundamental directions of Social Psychology. Its purpose is to analyze social problem, develop and introduce social programs at different levels, from individual to public, including group and organization. The research and approaches of applied social psychology have a huge importance in terms of understanding and regulating social behavior and problems. Due to its practical importance, it is one of the rapidly developing directions. The purpose of the MA Program in Applied Social Psychology is to ensure that students study theoretical, methodological and research principles of applied social psychology, as well as familiarize themselves with practice-related professional and contextual issues. Students will comprehensively study key theories, approaches, modern perspectives and empirical discoveries; use research methods and intervention techniques in solving various social problems in various spheres, including healthcare, organization, education, political behavior, economic behavior, etc. Special emphasis will be laid on the discussion of social problems, studying the facts that affect behavior, planning and assessment of effective strategies and intervention to change the behavior.
The program focuses on research component as well as development of research-related skills. The program will help students develop skills necessary for planning the research independently, data collection, analysis and interpretation; in addition, students will develop their communication and presentation skills.

After completion of the program, students have deep and systematic understanding of the field in general, directions and theoretical approaches of applied social psychology in particular, that provides them an opportunity to develop original ideas;
Students can analyze and evaluate social psychological aspects of the various social problems and phenomena in a different environment (organizational, educational, medical); to analyze the ways of their solution and implementation; they have the ability to plan research, conduct it, analyze data and interpret finding independently by taking into account ethical issues and contemporary professional standards.
Students can present their own opinions, arguments or research findings to the academic or professional society in Georgian as well as foreign languages by taking into account achievements of the information - communication technologies. Students possess skills important for working in the real working environment, including team working and responsibility skills.
The program duration is four semesters, 120 credits. The last semester (30 ECTS) is devoted to the Master's thesis.
The program consists of the seperate subjects. The total number of the subjects is equal to 21, including 12 mandatory (70 ECTS) and 9 electives (20 ECTS) courses.
Psychologists with master’s degrees will be able to work as researchers, psychologists or consultants at research, social policy making state agencies, non-governmental and international organizations. They will be able to continue their studies on the doctoral program.
