Cooperation with the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights (Italy)

Associate Professor Giorgi Dgebuadze, Deputy Dean of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) Faculty of Law, at the invitation of the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights (Siracusa Institute), was in Syracuse, Italy on May 27-30, 2024, to participate in the  23rd Specialization Course in International Criminal Law for Young Penalists 'M. Cherif Bassiouni'.

 

The course was organized by the Siracusa Institute, which was planned a few months ago within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the TSU and the Siracusa Institute.

 

The specialized course titled "International Criminal Law and Current Global Crises" was led by Professor William Schabas. Associate Professor Giorgi Dgebuadze participated in various sessions, discussions and shared the experience of Georgia with internationally recognized scientists and experts of criminal law and international criminal law. The sessions were focused in particular on the ongoing investigations of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the situations in Ukraine and Palestine.

 

Associate Professor Giorgi Dgebuadze discussed the upcoming stages of the partnership between the TSU and the Siracusa Institute and the measures to be implemented as outlined in the signed MoU during the meetings conducted as part of the visit to the Siracusa Institute.
