Between March 2 and 15, 2026, within the framework of a scientific-research internship based on the memorandum signed between the Academy under the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Tbilisi State University, a group of PhD students visited the TSU Faculty of Law.
During the visit, they met with the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Associate Professor Moris Shalikashvili, Deputy Deans – Associate Professor Vasil Gonashvili and Professor Paata Turava. The meetings were dedicated to discussing the research topics of the PhD students, sharing Georgian legislation and judicial practice, and conducting comparative analysis. During the discussions, attention was also focused on the current reform of higher education and the prospects and challenges of using artificial intelligence in the scientific research process.
The visit aims to facilitate the sharing of Georgian legislation and judicial practice on criminal law topics for the Academy’s PhD students, who are also practicing lawyers from various law enforcement and supervisory bodies. They also have the opportunity to use the university's educational and scientific resources, as well as to meet with the staff of the TSU Faculty of Law and receive consultations on issues related to the topics of their doctoral theses.
The internship process is coordinated by Zurab Bitcholashvili, Senior Specialist of the Department of Internationalization and Scientific Research of the Faculty of Law.
It is noteworthy that deepening cooperation with various higher education and scientific institutions of Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries is planned, which will contribute to the promotion of Georgian legal dogmatics and practice in the region.
