Winners of Creative Competition ‘Ivane Javakhishvili – 150’ Announced

An award ceremony for the winners and finalists of the “Ivane Javakhishvili - 150” creative competition was held at Tbilisi State University as part of the anniversary week dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili. TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Tamar Makharashvili, TSU students, professors, finalists and their family members attended the event.

“It is important to involve schoolchildren in anniversary events. Around 400 competition entries were submitted from almost all regions of Georgia. Each entry is precious to us, because it embodies the emotions and knowledge of our young people. This competition encouraged schoolchildren to develop a greater interest in Ivane Javakhishvili’s scientific and personal life, and to create an essay, video or comics,” said Jaba Samushia.

The competition aimed to engage schoolchildren aged 12–18 in the creative process and introduce them to Ivane Javakhishvili’s ideas, as well as the university’s educational traditions. The competition also sought to demonstrate to young people the importance of knowledge, education, and academic spaces. Participants had the opportunity to express their vision of Ivane Javakhishvili’s legacy and the power of knowledge through various creative works such as videos, comics, and essays.
